What happens to our food when it enters the stomach till It reaches the large Intestine?

When the food enters the stomach and reaches intestine following things happen:

  1. Food enters the stomach through oesophagus.
  2. The food is Churned in stomach for nearly 3 hours.
  3. The food is converted into semi solid form and the also stomach have three glands with secrete gastric juices.
  4. These gastric juices contain dilute HCl, mucus and enzyme pepsinogen.
  5. Pepsinogen converts large protein molecules into smaller ones.
  6. HCl kills the bacteria present in food and make acidic medium of food.
  7. When food comes to small intestine it receives bile juice from liver which makes the food alkaline and break fat molecule into small fat globules.
  8. Then the pancreatic juice (amylase, trypsin and lipase) act on net and digest carbohydrates protein and fat respectively.
  9. In small intestine absorption of digested food takes place.
  10. Food is completely digested in small intestine and gets assimilated by cells of body and utilised for growth and repair.
  11. Undigested food enters into large intestine.
