Question

what happens to particles of matter when pressure is applied

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

It depends upon the state of matter.
Gases are highly compressible since the inter molecular or particular space is very high while in liquids, it is slightly less than gases and in solid it is least.
So on pressure application, the particles of matter come closer.
Compressibility is highest for gases than liquids and least for solids.
