Compressibility factor is given by,
Z=pVmRT
When CO2 is under high pressure, molecules are highly compressed. Therefore, repulsive forces becomes dominant and so there is hardly any further decrease in volume. Therefore, Z > 1 i.e. positive deviation will occur,
