Question

What happens to the garbage from our homes after it is thrown into garbage dumps?

Solution

The fate of garbage:

  1. When the municipality sends garbage trucks to pick up the household garbage from the dustbins, the biodegradable wastes are dumped in a pit to convert the waste into manure by microorganism action. This manure can be used to grow plants in the locality.
  2. The non-biodegradable waste in the garbage is taken away in a truck somewhere far away from the city and dumped there. It is covered with soil and these areas are known as landfills. When the landfills are filled, a park or something like that can be built.
