Question

What happens to the magnetic field lines due to a current-carrying conductor when the current is reversed?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

When direction of the current flowing through the long straight conductor is reversed , direction of the magnetic field lines also get reversed.

We use right hand thumb rule to identify the direction of the magnetic filed lines due to current carrying conductor.
which states that if we put our thumb in the direction of current and curl our fingers then , our fingers will give the direction of magnetic filed lines .
