What happens to the microtubules at metaphase I?

Open in App
Solution

Metaphase I:

  1. It is the second phase of the first cell division of meiosis I which involves the pairs of homologous chromosomes aligning at the equatorial plane.
  2. During metaphase I of the cell cycle, the homologous pair of chromosomes align at the equatorial plate.
  3. The microtubules pull the sister chromatids of homologous pairs of chromosomes back and forth until they align at the equatorial plane.
  4. The microtubules from opposite poles of the spindle attach to the homologous chromosomes.
