Question

What happens to the resistance when the conductor is made thicker?

Open in App
Solution

The resistance of the wire will decrease if we make the conductor thicker because
R space equals space rho L over A

(Where A= area of cross-section or thickness of wire)

. We know that area is directly proportional to the radius of the wire and inversely proportional to resistance.
