Vertebral bodies:

  1. The thick oval segment of bone in the front of the spinal column is called the vertebral body.
  2. The vertebral bodies and neural arches are not connected at the time of birth.
  3. The primary ossification (formation of bones) begins with the point in the cartilage and after birth, the development of a few short bones, occurs (secondary ossification) and full skeletal development is achieved in the adult age.
