(a)
  • Copper is less reactive than hydrogen. ​

  • So, it does not react with dilute sulphuric acid even on heating. ​

  • Hence, no reaction occurs when dilute sulphuric acid is poured on a copper plate.​

  • While, copper reacts with concentrated sulphuric acid giving hydrogen gas and blue coloured copper salt crystals.


(b)
  • Since, iron is more reactive than copper. ​
  • So, iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution.​
  • Therefore, when iron nails are placed in copper sulphate solution a colour change from blue to light green ​
