Solution

  • When a strip of zinc metal is put in copper sulphate solution then the blue color of copper sulphate solution fades steadily and red brown coating of copper is deposited on zinc strip.

The chemical reaction is given below-

Zns+CuSO4aqZnSO4aq+Cus (Brown coating)

  • The zinc present will displace copper and there is a formation of zinc sulphate (ZnSO), leaving behind copper(Cu).
  • A zinc is more reactive than copper, zinc displaces copper from its copper solution.
  • Brown coating of copper will deposit on zinc.
