When AgCl is doped with CdCl2, two Ag+ ions are replaced by one Cd+2 ion. The Cd+2 ion occupies the site of one of the Ag+ ion and a cation vacancy are created at the site of the other Ag+ ion.
The defect is known cation vacancy defect as a Ag+ ion from the lattice is absent due to the presence of adjacent Cd+2 ion.
