What happens when barium chloride solution is added to sodium sulphate solution?
When an aqueous solution of barium chloride is added to sodium sulphate solution, a white precipitate of barium sulphate is formed. If the white precipitate formed remains insoluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid, then the given salt is a sulphate. This can be used as a test to identify the presence of sulphate.
