What happens when crystals of washing soda are left exposed to air?

When washing soda is exposed to air, it
loses its 9 molecules of water of
crystallisation and becomes Na2CO3.H2O
(sodium monohydrate) generally we can
say when it is left open in the dry air, lose
its water of crystallization.This change is
named as efflorescence.
