What happens when ebonite rod is rubbed with the fur?

Solution

Explanation

image

  1. When we rub fur with an ebonite rod, the chemical bond is formed between some parts of the two surfaces.
  2. Rod has its electron more tightly bound than fur.
  3. So, fur donates electrons to the rod while electrons from the rod won't come out.
  4. Due to an excess of electrons in the rod, it becomes negatively charged while the fur with lost electrons becomes deficient of electrons.
  5. Thus, the fur becomes positively charged.
