Whenhen ethanol is burned in air, it gets oxidised by the oxygen of the air to form and forms inorganic substances like CO2 and H2O.

Since, complete combustion takes place, a lot of heat is produced in this reaction.

REACTION :--

C2H5OH + 3O2 ---> 2CO2 + 3H2O

B)

it gets oxidised to form ethanoic acid and water

C2H5OH + [O] ----alkaline KMnO4--- CH3COOH + H2O
