What happens when magnesium ribbon burn in the presence of air

When the magnesium metal burns it reacts with oxygen found in the air to form Magnesium Oxide (MgO) which is a white powder.

Reaction is as follows:
​​​​​​2 ​Mg + O2 → 2 MgO
