1. Methanol, also known as Methyl alcohol has the chemical formula
CH3OH.
Reaction with Carbon monoxide:
1. When Methanol reacts with Carbon monoxide (CO) in the presence of Rhodium, it forms Acetic acid or Ethanoic acid (CH3COOH)
2. The reaction is given below:
CH3OH (l)+CO (g)CO/RhCH3COOH(l)
Hence, when Methanol is reacted with Carbon monoxide, it forms Acetic acid.
