Solution

Dear Student

When Phenol is treated with:

1) Bromine Water -

It leads to the formation of a white precipitate of 2,4,6- tribromophenol.

C6H5OH + 3Br2 ----->C6H2OH(Br3) + 3HBr

2) Bromine Liquid-

It will form 2,4,6- tribromophenol

C6H5OH + 3Br2 -----> C6H2OH(Br3) + 3HBr

3) Concentrated H2SO4 -

It forms phenolsulphonic acid

C6H5OH + H2SO4 -----> C6H5(SO3)OH or C6H6O3S
