What happens when pressure is applied to gases?

Dear student, As pressure on a gas increases its volume decrease with increase in pressure. This leads to the conversion of the gaseous state into a liquid state with further increase in temperature into a solid state. Since gases are compressible it's volume of the gas decreases on applying pressure. Regards,
