Question

What happens when rheo leaves are boiled in water first and then a drop of sugar syrup is put on it?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Boiling rheo leaves will cause the killing of their cells and cell organelles.
  2. Due to all this the cell loses all its cellular components.
  3. Cell wall well also gets destroyed. Therefore, osmosis will not occur.
  4. Now if sugar syrup is put on it, there will be no intake of water due to absence of osmosis and hence, no plasmolysis will be observed.
