Question

What happens when you add a vector to a zero vector?

Open in App
Solution

Vector algebra:

A zero vector is a null vector. The zero vector doesn't have any direction and magnitude.

When a vector is added to a zero vector, the answer is the original vector that was added.

Example: A=2i^+3j^-5k^

Then,

A+0=2i^+3j^-5k^+(0i^+0j^+0k^)

A+0=2i^+3j^-5k^

Hence, addition with null vector will return original vector.
