Solution

Mixtures

  • A mixture is a material made up of two or more different chemical substances which are not chemically bonded.
  • Mixtures are generally classified as homogeneous and heterogeneous.
  • Homogeneous mixtures possess a uniform composition throughout while heterogeneous mixtures possess a non-uniform composition.

Example-

  • The solution of sugar and water is an example of a homogenous mixture.
  • When sugar is mixed with water, the crystals break down into smaller particles and these particles occupy the space between the water particles to make a homogenous mixture of sugar syrup.
  • The composition of this sugar solution is uniform in nature.
