Cervix:

  1. It is a two-inch long narrow passage in the lower part of the uterus.
  2. It allows the passage of mensural bleeding and the sperms to the uterus.

The hormone that dilates the cervix:

  1. Prostaglandins are the lipids that repair tissue after damage and control blood flow in mensuration.
  2. Oxytocin and relaxin also stimulate cervical maturation and dilation.
  3. Hence, prostaglandins, oxytocin and relaxin are responsible for the dilation of the cervix.
