Production of sperm:

  1. Spermatogenesis is stimulated by androgens and FSH.
  2. GnRH secreted by the hypothalamus stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete gonadotropins, i.e. LH and FSH.
  3. LH stimulates Leydig cells to secrete androgens.
  4. Androgens stimulate spermatogenesis.
  5. FSH stimulates Sertoli cells to secrete several factors that stimulate spermatogenesis.
