What if the probability is greater than 1?

Open in App
Solution

Probability Theory:

Probability is a measure of the likelihood of an event to occur. Probability is a number or fraction between 0 and 1.

By the definition of probability, for all the events in the event space, the probability is less than or equal to 1.

This means the probability of an event E is: 0≤PE≤1

Hence, Probability can not be greater than 1.
