Chemical equations constitute the reactants that react to form new products.

The chemical equation provides information about:

  • the chemical formulae and the chemical symbols of the reactants and the products.
  • the physical states of each component involved in the reaction.

For example: When Nitrogen (N) reacts with Hydrogen (H) gas to form ammonia (NH3). The chemical equation for the reaction is given as:

N2 (g) + 3H2 (g) ⇢ 2NH3 (g)
