Solution
Electroplating is the process of coating a superior metal on the surface of an inferior metal.
The process of electroplating needs some conditions to work properly.
The electrode used for electroplating is the positive electrode is the metal or article to be electroplated, the negative electrode is the metal that is going to be electroplated on the article's surface and the electrolyte is a solution that possesses metal ions.
For electroplating a spoon with silver the cathode is the spoon, the anode is the pure silver, and the electrolyte is a solution containing silver ions.
So the metal ions themselves must be present in the electrolyte for electroplating a particular metal.
