What is the binomial theorem?

Open in App
Solution

Binomial theorem:

  • Binomial theorem describes the algebraic expansion of the power of a binomial.
  • It is possible to expand any non-negative intergers powers of a binomial.
  • The binomial theorem is: (a+b)n=Cn0anb0+Cn1an-1b1+Cn2an-2b2+........+Cnna0bn.
  • Using the summation notation, it can be written as (a+b)n=r=0nCnran-rbr, where n0,Cnris always a positive integer.
  • A Pascal's triangle shows the coefficients for each power of the binomial

Hence, binomial theorem is explained.
