A series of reactions in which the product or by-product supports additional reactions to take place. A chain reaction proceeds through Initiation, Propagation, Retardation (inhibition) and Termination.
Following are examples of chain reactions.
(1) $H_{2} + B r_{2} \to 2 H B r$
(2) $2 H_{2} + O_{2} \to 2 H_{2} O$
(3) Nuclear reactions
