∙ Chemical reaction is a process of transformation of one or more substances into a new substance(s). In a chemical reaction, the original substances are known as the reactants and the new substances that are formed are known as products.
∙ Chemical reactions are represented through chemical equations. And while writing a chemical equation, the reactants are written on the left-hand side whereas the products are written on the right-hand side. And these two are separated from each other by an arrow.
∙ For example, magnesium reacts with oxygen and forms magnesium oxide. Here magnesium and oxygen are the reactants while magnesium oxide is the product.
