Cyclone is the name given to the phenomenon wherein the winds spiral in the anti clockwise motion in the northern hemisphere and clockwise direction n the southern hemisphere. They are generally formed around low atmospheric pressure areas.
Cyclones though can be detected in advance, nevertheless cause widespread damages to human lives and properties.
The following can be done when preparing to brace the cyclones:

• Build houses as per cyclone standards
• Trim the treetops near houses
• Prepare an emergency kit
• Keep a list of emergency phone numbers handy
• Fill vehicles' fuel tanks.
• Do not venture out
• Park vehicles under sturdy shelters
• Prepare an evacuation kit
