Dominant allele:

  1. In heterozygous condition, the allele which expresses itself even in the presence of another allele is called a dominant allele.
  2. The allele whose expression is suppressed in the presence of a dominant allele is called a recessive allele.
  3. A heterozygous condition occurs when one dominant allele comes together with a recessive allele.
  4. A dominant allele is denoted by the capital letter of the initial alphabet of its corresponding dominant trait, for e.g., the dominant allele for the dominant trait tall is written as T.
