Open in App
Solution

Trait:

  • The traits are the characteristics expressed by the individuals of a particular species.
  • The traits are coded by genes. Each gene has two variants which are known as alleles.

Dominant trait:

  • The dominant allele decides the appearance of the characters or the trait. It ignores the presence of the alternative allele.

Representation and example:

  • The dominant trait is represented by a capital letter.
  • For example, Rr controls the shape of the seed, then R is the dominant gene for the roundness of the seed, and r codes for wrinkled seed.
