Flagella:

  1. A flagellum is a microscopic filamentous structure protruding out of the bacterial cell, which is used for locomotion.
  2. Bacterial flagella are made up of a protein called flagellin.
  3. A flagellum in bacteria consists of three parts viz. filament, hook, and basal body.
  4. Flagella also act as the structures for sensing any changes in pH and temperature.
