Flowering plants:-

  1. Angiosperms are the most advanced plants which produce flowers.
  2. Hence, angiosperms are called flowering plants.
  3. A flower is the characteristic feature of angiosperms and the unit of sexual reproduction.
  4. Angiosperms are mainly categorized into two groups viz. monocots and dicots.
  5. Monocots are the flowering plants which have a single cotyledon in their seeds e.g., maize, rice, wheat etc.
  6. Dicots are the plants which contain two cotyledons in their seeds e.g., pulses.
  7. Cotyledon is a leaf-like structure present in the seeds of seed-bearing plants.
