  1. Maturation or ripening of the ovary after fertilization produces the fruit.
  2. Ovule is present inside the ovary which develops into seed after fertilization.
  3. The two parts of fruits are the pericarp and seeds.

Pericarp:

  1. The ovary of the ovary develops into pericarp during maturation.
  2. Epicarp, mesocarp and endocarp are the three layers of pericarp.
  3. Epicarp is the outermost thin covering of the fruit.
  4. Mesocarp is generally the fleshy and edible middle part of pericarp.
  5. Endocarp is the hardest inner layer that covers the seed.

Seed:

  1. Seeds develop due to the fusion of gametes in the ovule.
  2. Seeds are present inside the pericarp of the fruit and it is protected by the inner layer called endocarp.
