  1. In hypanthodium inflorescence, the axis becomes fleshy and pear-shaped.
  2. A cavity is formed inside the fleshy axis.
  3. The female flowers are present at the base and the male flowers lie at the apical opening.
  4. This cavity has an opening pore called Ostiole.
  5. The fleshy receptacle contains a number of small male and female flowers which comes out of the ostiole.
  6. This fleshy receptacle forms the fruit and is edible.
  7. A fruit that develops from a hypanthodium inflorescence is called a Syconus fruit.
