Question

What is a leap year?

Open in App
Solution

The year in which February is of 29 days instead of 28 days is called a leap year. Thus, a leap year is of 366 days instead of 365 days.

Explanation: Earth takes exactly 365 days and 6 hours to complete one revolution around the sun. Now, for three years 6 hours are getting added so in fourth year (6x3 = 18)+ 6 = 24 hour or a complete extra day. Thus, 4th year becomes a leap year having 366 days.
