A cross between two pea plants which differ in one specific character is called monohybrid cross.

When the tall plants from the F${}_1$ generation are selfed, the ratio obtained are as followed:
Phenotypic ratio = 3: 1 (3 tall and 1 dwarf)
Genotypic ratio = 1: 2: 1 (1 pure tall, 2 tall and 1 pure dwarf).
