Solution

The correct option is A

A graphical presentation of the age, sex composition of a population.

  • A good way to look at the composition of the population in a country is by studying the population pyramid, which is also known as the age-sex pyramid.
  • The population pyramid throws light on how the population is divided among various age groups i.e 10 to 14 years, 5 to 9 years etc.
  • In each of those groups, the percentage of the total population are further divided into females and males.
  • Population density is the number of people living per square kilometer of an area.
  • The population density is the highest in South Central Asia followed by South East Asia and East Asia.
  • When population density is high there is less space for housing facilities, hence people are forced to live in tall buildings.
  • In search of better employment opportunities, people tend to migrate from less developed countries to more developed countries, this is the general trend of migration.
  • Inside a country, the general trend of migration is from rural areas to urban areas in search of better job opportunities.
  • People are attracted to places which have many industries. Areas having industries provides scope for more job opportunities.
  • Mumbai in India, Osaka in Japan are some of the examples, which are densely populated due to more economic opportunities.
