Open in App
Solution

Seminormal

  • A semi-normal solution is indicated as N/2.
  • When 1/2 gram equivalent of the solute is dissolved in 1 liter of the solution, it is said to be a semi-normal solution.
  • For example:
  • For making, 0.5N of NaOH: 20 g NaOH needs to be added to 1 L in water in order to make 0.5N NaOH

Decinormal

  • A decinormal solution is one in which one tenth-gram equivalent mass of a substance is present in one liter of its solution.
  • It is denoted as N/10 solution.
  • For example:
  • For making, 0.1N, NaOH:1/10 gram equivalents of HCl(3.645g)dissolved in one liter of the solution results in decinormal 0.1N solution.
