Solution

Single covalent bond

A bond formed by the sharing of 2 electrons between the atoms, each atom contributing one electron for sharing, is called a single covalent bond. It is denoted by putting a short line (-) between the two atoms, e.g., H-H.

Double covalent bond

A bond formed by sharing two pairs of electrons between two atoms, each atom contributing two electrons for sharing, is called a double covalent bond. It is represented by putting two short lines (=)between the two atoms, e.g., O = O.

Oxygen Molecule

Triple covalent bond

A bond formed by sharing of 6 electrons between two atoms, each atom contributing three electrons for sharing, is called a triple covalent bond. It is represented by putting three short lines () between the two atoms, e.g., NN.
