What is a totally reflecting prism ?

Open in App
Solution

  • Prism: A prism is a solid figure whose bases have the same size and shape and are parallel to one another, and each of its sides is a parallelogram.
  • A prism having one of the angles as 90° between two refracting surfaces and the other two angles as 45° is called a total reflecting prism, because the light rays that are incident normally on any of its faces, will suffer total internal reflection inside the prism.
