What is acid rain and how is it formed?

Open in App
Solution

When gases like carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide, get dissolved in the moisture present in air they form carbonic acid, nitric acid, and sulphuric acid respectively. On cooling this moisture results in formation of rain with low pH(<5) and this is acidic. Such rainfall is termed as acid rain.
