Question

What is acid rain? Name two air pollutants that cause acid rain.

Solution

The oxides of sulphur and nitrogen released from industrial wastes and automobile exhausts combine with water present in the atmosphere to form acids. These disperse over large areas in accordance with the wind patterns and fall back to the ground as acid rain or other forms of precipitation.
