Acromegaly is the condition which occurs in the adults due to the hypersecretion of the growth hormone. Growth hormone (somatotropin) is secreted by the anterior pituitary. Hypersecretion of growth hormone causes gigantism in children and acromegaly in adults. Acromegaly has certain peculiar symptoms which include enlargement of hands and feet along with joint pain, thicker skin, deepening of the voice, headaches, and problems with vision.
