An adaptation is a special skill which helps an animal to survive and do everything it needs to do. Adaptations could be physical changes to the body of the organism or behavioural changes in how an individual animal or a society do things in their daily lives.
Camels have learnt to adapt (or change) so that they can survive in deserts. Animals depend on their physical features to help them obtain food, keep safe, build homes, withstand weather and attract mates.
Adaptation definitions:
1. Adaptation is the evolutionary process whereby an organism becomes better able to live in its habitat or habitats.
2. Adaptedness is the state of being adapted: the degree to which an organism is able to live and reproduce in a given set of habitats.
