1. The substance produced hydroxide ions when dissolved in water are known as alkali. Example: Potassium hydroxide ($\mathrm{KOH}$)
   $\mathrm{KOH}\left(\mathrm{s}\right)\stackrel{{\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O}}{\to }{\mathrm{K}}^{+}\left(\mathrm{aq}\right)+{\mathrm{OH}}^{-}\left(\mathrm{aq}\right)$
2. When strong base and weak acid undergoes incomplete neutralization it results in the formation of alkali salt.
3. As the name suggest alkali salt are basic in nature.
4. Sodium chloride $\left(\mathrm{NaCl}\right)$ is an alkali salt.
   $\mathrm{NaOH}\left(\mathrm{aq}\right)+\mathrm{HCl}\left(\mathrm{aq}\right)\to \mathrm{NaCl}\left(\mathrm{aq}\right)+{\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O}\left(\mathrm{l}\right)$
