What is AM and PM?
Answer:
AM (Ante-Meridiem) is a Latin term, used to indicate a 12-hour clock system before Noon. Also signifies before midday. It is a unit of the time standard and is associated with the 12-hour clock. The 12-hour system splits a day’s time cycle into two parts. AM represents the first period that is midnight to noontime.
PM (Post Meridiem) denotes post-midday period. It is another unit of the convention time which is associated with the 12-hour clock. Post Meridiem reflects the second period. PM reflects the time from Noon till midnight.
If I say I ‘m coming at 9 o’clock, it’s confusing that morning or evening. In the 12-hour clock, system AM and PM are used to prevent this ambiguity. Accordingly, the morning is 9 am and evening is 9 pm.
