  • Amalgam is a homogenous substance that is composed of the solution of mercury-containing any other metal of the periodic table.
  • Alloy is a homogenous mixture of two metals or non-metals that has enhanced physical properties.

Part 2: Example

Example of Amalgam: When sodium dissolves in mercury it leads to the formation of sodium amalgam.

Example of Alloy: When Zinc and copper are mixed in proportion, an alloy named brass is formed which is highly malleable and ductile, and durable.
